So, we hit our 50s, move into our 60s, then our 70s and beyond.

How have the rules changed?

Let me tell you: They’ve changed in major ways when it comes to our health.

I went through perimenopause for most of my 40s — not fun. Menopause in my early 50s wasn’t always a walk in the park either. But I had this idea that once menopause hit, I could skip pelvic and Pap exams forever. How liberating!

Wrong. Absolutely wrong.

I wasn’t dumb or uninformed — maybe just in denial. But after a visit to a gynecologist who spelled out the rules, I realized I wasn’t the only one who might need a refresher.
