Brrr. It is cold. Wind chill puts it at -1 degree here. I don’t remember having a day this cold in all the time we’ve been here.
OK. Just checked. It’s come up to 0 degrees.
There was no coffee shop stop today. Too cold. Instead, it was hot chocolate tonight with a couple of my husband’s famous oatmeal cookies. He makes the best.

I’ve been thinking a lot about how I connect with our community on social media. I haven’t posted much over the past few weeks, and I’m not always sure what makes the most sense to share. I feel lucky that a few things I have posted resonated with people. At the same time, I don’t want to do too much and risk tiring folks out.
It’s something I continue to work through.
Lately, I’ve been thinking about a column on doing versus thinking about doing. Thinking is a great place to start. Doing, though — that’s always the harder part. Sometimes doing requires talking yourself through each challenge just to make something happen. How do we do that? I think it’s worth a column — maybe even a couple.
I also think we all face challenges when stepping into a Chapter 2. For some, it doesn’t need to be monetized. For others, earning money is an important factor. Understanding your goals is paramount. Aligning those goals with what you want out of life is critical.
I’m looking forward to this week. Steve is finally going in for a primary care doctor’s visit — long overdue. I have a good chunk of time to write, with not too many things on the calendar to juggle. We also have a donation pickup scheduled at the end of the week, and I’m very excited about that. It’s time to purge.
I always feel good about purging. December is one of those months when we do an annual clean-out. It feels like making room for new things — goals, purpose, maybe even clarity — to enter our lives.
And with that, I’ll leave you with my cup of tea (I switched over from cocoa). I’ll connect with all of you later this week in my column, which will be available to paid subscribers. If you aren’t one yet, please consider it. I truly think it’s worth it.

5 Gems for the Week
🎄 Favorite Christmas movie
I love holiday movies. I don’t really have a favorite — I watch them all, animated and not. They’re full of cheer, meant for a short season, and then they disappear until next year. I love that about them.
🎶 Favorite Christmas song
Same approach as movies. I listen during the season, then I stop. New ones, old ones — it all works. Nothing makes me feel “holiday-ish” faster.
🎁 Double-sided adhesive wrapping tape
Has anyone used this? I’m curious how well it works. It looks convenient, but I’m not sure I trust it. Reviews welcome.
🧹 The December purge
There’s something deeply satisfying about letting go before the year ends. It feels like clearing space — not just in closets, but in your head.
☕ Hot chocolate nirvana
I picked up one of those Hotel Chocolat cocoa makers last year. It was a luxury spend. They have so many varieties of chocolate and the maker aerates the milk and chocolate. I can’t even explain. It’s amazing.
