Hello, Not Done Yet community.

It’s our Sunday Stroll today — and as always, I’m taking mine at a table with coffee by my side and a romance novel nearby, ready for when I need a break.

I do that while I’m working too. I usually keep a book (well, a Kindle) open for those moments when I need a mind break. It’s better than reaching for cookies — although, truthfully, sometimes I reach for both.

This week, I listened to my doctor and actually took a few days to rest after an outpatient procedure. It wasn’t a big deal — just a few stitches on my back in a very inconvenient spot. It’s been a little over a week now, the pain is gone, and only the occasional itch remains (and you know you can’t scratch). Who doesn’t hate that?

I had two cysts removed that had been hanging around for years. I finally decided to take care of them because this is my year of doing everything I’m supposed to do on the medical front. They were starting to get irritated anyway. I still have other things on my checklist, but at least this one’s done.

Since my last stroll, life has been full — not just with medical stuff, but with family. We dropped off my oldest for a 16-week training program in manufacturing technology about 2½ hours away, then headed up to New Jersey for Family Weekend with our youngest.

We decided to get creative and took the train to New York for a show, then headed back for his homecoming game, shopping, and breakfast before heading home. It was a full weekend — but one of those good kinds of full.

Most importantly, I got to see that he’s doing well, enjoying his first semester, and settling in. As much as I was sad to have the baby leave for college, I absolutely wanted him to have a successful experience — and based on what I saw, he’s doing just that. I’m deeply grateful. I still worry (of course I do), but being able to witness him thriving is a great comfort.

I think that’s really what Family Weekend is for — reassurance, pride, and maybe a little letting go.

Everything’s kind of rolled together these last couple of weeks — Aidan heading to training, Indy’s Family Weekend, and then my own recovery. But I’m happy to be back here with all of you.

So tell me — how have the last couple of weeks been for you? Any particular challenges or bright spots? I’d love to hear.

💎 Five Gems for the Week

  1. Tiny Recoveries Count. Rest doesn’t always mean doing nothing — sometimes it’s simply choosing not to push through.

  2. Health as a To-Do (and a Gift). Checking something off your medical list is worth celebrating — it’s an act of self-respect.

  3. Letting Go, Gently. Watching our kids grow is equal parts pride and ache — both feelings can live together.

  4. Joy in the Ordinary. Coffee, a good book, and an itch you can’t scratch — these small, human moments are the texture of real life.
