Quick editor’s note: I’m writing this during a short power outage that reminded me why I don’t like working only in the cloud. My sons were pacing the house without Wi-Fi — and the cheers when it came back were real.
I hope you’re enjoying these Sunday strolls. This is only the second one, but next week I’ll add a little poll for you to chime in. Now, onto my thoughts!
On Streaming
I’m a big fan of comfort rewatching — The Great British Baking Show will forever be my happy background noise. But lately, I’ve tried sitting down to actually watch something new.
I asked my friends for recommendations. My only rules: No zombies. No horror. No gratuitous gore. Nothing boring.
Therese recommended Slow Horses on Apple TV. Definitely not a background show — I kept rewinding when I tried to multitask. Eventually, I gave in and made it my nightly reward. Sharp writing, twists, and the intrigue you’d expect from a British spy drama about MI5 “rejects.”
And yes, I caved and binged the first three episodes of the new season of The Great British Baking Show. Now I’m stuck waiting week to week. Ugh.

Life & Relationships
Steve just came back after nearly two weeks in Arizona with his mom. Twelve days felt like forever. After 29 years of marriage, I still don’t like being apart that long.
We’ve always done most things together — even working in the same company, just in different departments. That rhythm has always worked for us. Of course, every relationship is different. Some of my friends thrive on more independence, and I know women who are thriving on their own — with friends, grandchildren, work, and the lives they’ve built.
Ultimately, that’s the point: finding safe spaces, whether with a spouse, children, or friends. Spaces that bring joy and richness into life.
This Week’s Roundup
Column: Parenting later in life. What began as restlessness when my youngest left for college turned into the realization that I’ve closed a 30-year era of parenting school-aged kids. Read the full column here.
Podcast: Longevity vs. Intention. Last week’s episode asked: Do more years mean more life? Only if they’re filled with purpose and joy. Listen to the full podcast here.

✨ NDY 5 Gems of the Week
Here are five sparks of inspiration, joy, and curiosity for the week ahead:
📖 Read: How to Find Time to Read by Oliver Burkeman (The Guardian). Reading is one of life’s simplest pleasures — don’t miss out.
📺 Watch: The Four Seasons on Netflix. Eight episodes, a remake of the 1981 film, starring Tina Fey, Steve Carell, and Colman Domingo. A warm, funny comfort show.
🍴 Try: Flour’s Banana Bread recipe. I found it nearly 20 years ago, and it still holds true. My youngest loves it — one reason I don’t mind leaving bananas on the counter to age.
🛍️ Stuff: Guava Ultra Moisturizing Hand Cream (Trader Joe’s). A gift from a friend that became my desk staple. Affordable, hydrating, and the scent takes me home.
💡 Reflect: Do one small thing that moves your story forward today. That’s how the next chapter begins.
Thanks for strolling with me this week. If something’s on your mind, hit reply and let me know. And don’t forget to introduce yourself on my page — let’s keep building this community.
Here’s to stories still unfolding.
